Músico / Facilitador de TaKeTiNa
ABOUT

Be

Taking up drumming as a 9-year-old boy during his childhood in Sydney in a family with two practicing visual artists as parents, Be was very fortunate to have as his first music teachers the eminent Australian master-percussionists Tunji Beieer and Greg Sheehan. Through his adolescence, he continued his studies for 5 years of tuition in Jazz Drum-kit with the late New Yorker Jack Savage. Then during formative years as a young man living in Tasmania, Be first experienced TakeTiNa in 1996; at the practice groups in Hobart of his teacher Tania Bosak, (who was undertaking the first  TaKeTiNa Teacher Training conducted in English).  This experience of feeling his whole being immersed in the meditative space of a rhythmic archetype, where stillness and movement co-mingle, ignited a profound curiosity that has accompanied him through all his subsequent explorations and practices in the realms of rhythm, the voice, and meditation.

Working as a professional musician from 1993 to 2009, (initially in the much-loved Tasmanian based folk-funk band PURPLE SHAG, then working largely in Japan from1997 to 2005 as a solo performer and in the acclaimed duo SOUTH, with Aki-ra Sunrise), Be has always been enthralled by music and its capacity to bring people together and bring about both inner and outer transformation.

In 2007 Be was invited to deliver drumming programs to indigenous youth in the community of Mutitjulu at Uluru. This experience began 9 years of living and working with first Australians, in Mutitjulu for 1 year and then for 4 years with Luritja people in Papunya. In 2011 Be undertook the first ever TaKeTiNa Teacher Training held in Australia, with the founder of TaKeTiNa Reinhard Flatischler and Senior Australian TaKeTiNa teacher Tania Bosak, and became a fully accredited TaKeTiNa facilitator in March 2015. He has been facilitating regular weekly TaKeTiNa group practice privately in Alice Springs since 2013, as well as at the Mental Health Ward of the Alice Springs Hospital and through the Mental Health Association of Central Australia.

Be is now working with Tania Bosak producing workshops with Reinhard around Australia and internationally. He recently moved to Buenos Aires becoming the second accredited TaKeTiNa facilitator in South America, and the first one in Argentina. He works in Argentina since 2014.

Having completed Advanced TaKeTiNa training with Reinhard and Tania and currently undertaking Senior Level Training in Europe,  Be continues to facilitate and produce TaKeTiNa workshops in Australia and internationally. It is clear that his eternal passion for music and for peoples capacity for growth and learning have found a tremendous vehicle in his TaKeTiNa work.

"This workshop was a beautiful experience, each journey filled me with bliss, I enjoyed it so much. Each day that passed I felt more happy. On the last day after the visualization exercise I was able to synthesize a mountain of passed experiences that I have lived over the years of my life, and I felt even happier still. I felt so relaxed, present, and light that I said to my brother " I feel like I  have been on holidays for a month!".   "    - Jimena, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
